SaraManser
Sara has a Bachelor of Fine Art (First Class Hons) and a PhD from Griffith University's Queensland College of Art, Brisbane, Australia. Her studio-based research visually examines the surfaces of the built environment, and interprets ideas of nature in the city.
Exploring ideas of an aesthetic of urban nature Sara is interested in current research by urban ecologists surrounding human and non-human nature, preference for particular types of nature, and connections to nature (biophilia) within the urban environment.
The place commonly known as ‘nature’ is no longer that far away pristine wilderness. Nature is here, now, right where we live, not separate from, us.
Sara is constantly inspired by the traces and marks that occur naturally, overtime, on the built environment. Reminders of the relentless ability of nature to adapt, always emerging regardless of human activity, leaving its trace on concrete, steel, and glass, is the visual stimulus for her art practice.
